How Much Does GLP-1 Weight Loss Treatment Cost in Colorado?

If you're considering GLP-1 medication for weight loss, one of your first questions is probably: How much is this going to cost?
The answer isn't always straightforward. GLP-1 weight-loss programs can vary significantly in price depending on the medication, dose, pharmacy, insurance coverage, and whether the provider charges membership or program fees in addition to the medication itself.
At Northern Colorado Medical, we believe patients should understand the expected cost of treatment before moving forward.
What Determines the Cost of GLP-1 Treatment?
Several factors can affect what you ultimately pay for GLP-1 weight-management care.
The Medication
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are different medications, and their costs can differ substantially. Tirzepatide generally costs more than semaglutide, particularly as the prescribed dose increases.
Your Prescribed Dose
GLP-1 treatment commonly begins at a lower dose. Your physician may gradually adjust your dose based on your individual response, tolerability, and treatment needs.
With compounded medications, a higher dose may require a different vial size, concentration, or quantity. This can change the pharmacy cost.
The Pharmacy
Compounding pharmacy prices aren't all the same.
Northern Colorado Medical works with U.S.-based, state-licensed compounding pharmacies and evaluates factors including pharmacy licensure, ingredient sourcing, quality-control practices, testing, shipping standards, and patient support.
When appropriate, we can review available pharmacy options and expected costs with you before proceeding.
Membership and Program Fees
This is an important expense to look for when comparing GLP-1 providers.
Some weight-loss programs advertise a medication price but also require a monthly membership, subscription, access fee, or long-term commitment.
Northern Colorado Medical does not require a membership.
There are no monthly membership fees, access fees, or automatic recurring charges simply to remain a patient.
How Much Does GLP-1 Treatment Cost at Northern Colorado Medical?
Northern Colorado Medical currently offers introductory GLP-1 care for $180.
When prescribed, the introductory offer includes:
Telehealth physician evaluation
First month of compounded semaglutide and supplies
Ongoing access to our team for questions and support
After the introductory period, medication pricing depends on the medication, prescribed dose, formulation, and dispensing pharmacy.
All charges are upfront and transparent. We do not auto-bill, and we do not keep or maintain your credit card/payment information. We do, however, discuss the expected cost before an order is placed so patients aren't surprised by an unexpected medication charge.
What About Tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide is another medication that may be considered for weight management when a physician determines it is appropriate.
Because tirzepatide generally costs more to obtain from compounding pharmacies, its price is typically higher than compounded semaglutide. Cost can also increase as the prescribed dose increases.
Rather than advertising one price that may not apply to every patient or every dose, Northern Colorado Medical provides pricing based on the medication and treatment prescribed for the individual patient.
Are Compounded GLP-1 Medications the Same as Wegovy® or Zepbound®?
No.
Compounded medications are prepared for individual patients based on a prescription and are not FDA-approved medications.
They should not be represented as generic or identical versions of FDA-approved products such as Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Zepbound®, or Mounjaro®.
A physician should determine whether a compounded medication is appropriate based on the individual patient's circumstances and current availability.
Does Insurance Cover GLP-1 Weight-Loss Treatment?
Insurance coverage for GLP-1 medications varies widely.
Some health plans cover certain FDA-approved medications for weight management, while others exclude weight-loss medications entirely or require specific eligibility criteria and prior authorization.
Northern Colorado Medical operates on a self-pay model and does not bill insurance directly.
Patients may request a superbill that can be submitted to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by the patient's insurance plan and is not guaranteed.
Can I Use HSA or FSA Funds?
Northern Colorado Medical accepts HSA and FSA payments.
We also accept CareCredit for patients who prefer an additional financing option.
Eligibility and reimbursement rules for HSA, FSA, and financing programs can vary, so patients should confirm requirements with their plan or account administrator.
Is the Cheapest GLP-1 Program Always the Best Choice?
Price matters, but it shouldn't be the only consideration when choosing medical weight-loss care.
Before selecting a provider, consider asking:
Is a licensed physician involved in evaluating and prescribing treatment?
Is the provider licensed to treat patients in Colorado?
Which pharmacy will dispense the medication?
Is the pharmacy appropriately licensed?
What exactly is included in the advertised price?
Does the price change as the dose increases?
Are there membership or subscription fees?
Is there a long-term commitment?
Who can you contact if you have questions or side effects?
Will you know the cost before your medication is ordered?
A very low advertised price may look attractive until additional membership fees, consultation charges, medication costs, or long-term commitments are added.
